GE’s Catalyst Engine Earns FAA Approval

GE Aerospace’s Catalyst turboprop engine has received FAA certification, with the powerplant’s first application set to be the upcoming brand-new Beechcraft Denali.

Offering up to 18% lower fuel burn and 10% higher cruise power compared to competitors in the same size class, the “first, new centreline, clean-sheet advanced turboprop of the 21st century” is aimed at the 1200 – 1400 SHP range. It is also the first turboprop engine to be certified to the latest standards, including what GE described as more than 20 “significant new requirements”.

The FAA Part 33 certification process involved over 23 engines and more than 190 component tests, with the test units completing more than 8,000 hours of operation. Designed, developed and manufactured at European GE Aerospace sites (including Avio Aero in Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland and Germany), GE now remains focused on supporting the production ramp-up ahead of its entry into commercial service.

“The Catalyst engine benefits from GE’s engineering expertise and from the largest European research and development programmes devoted to decarbonisation,” explained the manufacturer. “Additive technology has been used in combination with advanced alloys to allow more geometrical freedom in the design.” Additionally, it is the first modern turboprop ever built with 3D-printed components.

Beechcraft elaborated that the Catalyst engine “features a dual channel FADEC and propeller control which provides easy jet-like power in the flight desk as well as unrivalled operating efficiencies and engine protection”. With the aircraft able to carry up to eleven occupants, it boasts a four-passenger range of 1,600 nm and a maximum cruise speed of 285 ktas.

Bombardier Delivers 1,000th Super-Midsize Jet – Challenger 3500

Bombardier announced the delivery of its 1,000th super-midsize aircraft with a Challenger 3500 aircraft going to JM Family Enterprises, a long-standing Bombardier customer, during a ceremony at Bombardier’s Challenger delivery centre in Montréal. More than 700 employees and invitees attended the event.

As highlighted by Eric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier:

“Reaching the delivery of our 1,000th super-midsize aircraft marks a defining moment for Bombardier,” said Éric Martel, President and CEO of Bombardier. “This milestone is a testament to the dedication and exceptional talent of our employees, as well as the trust and loyalty of our customers around the world. It holds even greater significance as we are celebrating with a client who shares our family values, entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to the community. Challenger super-midsize aircraft have been a game changer in the industry as they defined a new business jet segment, and we are excited to continue building on this legacy.”

Over the last two decades, Bombardier states its super-midsize aircraft have been the best-selling jets in their class, and the Challenger 3500 jet again led its segment in 2024 as the most delivered jet. Bombardier customers operate a fleet of approximately 5,100 aircraft, supported by 10 service facilities across six countries. Bombardier’s jets are manufactured in aerostructures, assembly and completion facilities in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

Challenger 300

Initially called Bombardier Continental, the Challenger 300 was formally introduced to the world in 1999 during the Paris Air Show and performed its first flight in 2001. The development started with a clean sheet, meaning that the 300 series was not based on any other variants. The first operator to offer commercial services with the aircraft was Flexjet , starting on 8th January 2004. In the following decade from the entrance to commercial space, 448 Challengers 300 series have entered service, growing to 550 in late 2015.

Pandemic, war, terrorists – how to fly safely in difficult times?

People who often go on private and business trips by air are rightly concerned about their safety. Despite the precautions taken at airports, the risks cannot be fully eliminated. They result from the technical conditions of aircraft, airport infrastructure, as well as the motives of individual passengers or organized groups using human health and life as a bargaining chip. Fortunately, there is an alternative – using private charters.

Aviation hazards – is there anything to be afraid of?

Unfortunately, the catalog of threats that passengers of regular airlines have to face is very extensive. Most often, they result from human error – due to the multitude of duties, one of the employees forgets to verify the condition of all components before the flight, or a person carrying a dangerous item slips through the inspection screen.
Moreover, procedures carried out in good faith are extremely burdensome for passengers. Check-in, personal inspection, baggage inspection – all this significantly lengthens the journey and may also lead to very unpleasant situations.

Is the plane safe?

As many as 30% of Polish society admits that they feel afraid of flying. Importantly, this fear does not always disappear with subsequent trips, and sometimes even intensifies under the influence of stressful experiences.
Meanwhile, compared to land travel, air travel is the safest today. Accidents are extremely rare, especially considering the number of people who die on the roads every day. Therefore, the fear of flying is not justified by statistics.

Safe flying – when is it possible?

For a truly safe flight, many variables must be taken into account. First of all, the technical condition of the plane cannot raise the slightest doubt. The professionalism and experience of the staff are also important.
A serious group of threats are those resulting from human activities. Terrorist and even cyberterrorist attacks can endanger aircraft passengers or destabilize airport operations for many hours. This is why the safest way to travel by air is to use private carriers that offer charter flights on small jets.

Why are private charter flights the safest?

The planes in our fleet undergo regular, extremely detailed inspections. We are absolutely certain that their technical condition does not raise any doubts. We employ only outstanding specialists – both in ground service positions and on-board staff.
The terrorist threat on private flights is practically non-existent – you decide who you take on board. A small plane also has much fewer requirements when it comes to the landing site, so in the event of a sudden deterioration of weather, it can take advantage of the first opportunity to interrupt the flight, without having to go to a large airport. Private carriers will be able to fulfill orders much more easily and effectively, even in difficult times (e.g. a pandemic) or in a complicated geopolitical situation (e.g. a flight over war zones).

Empty legs – a comfortable flight at a good price

Relying on scheduled aircraft is very risky. Every day there are canceled flights, lost or damaged luggage, and uncomfortable conditions at the airport or on the plane itself. All these problems translate into a waste of time and generate unnecessary stress – and this is the last thing you need before an important conversation with a key client or at the start of a family vacation. The solution is private charter flights. Importantly, their cost can be significantly reduced by using the so-called empty legs.

Empty legs – meaning

The phrase “empty leg” means a flight without passengers. It is a technical flight – the plane simply returns to its destination after delivering the passengers to the agreed place, or vice versa – it to collect them.
Charter flight operators often allow their customers to use the empty leg. This is a much more economical solution for both parties to the transaction, but also much more environmentally friendly. Depending on the company, there are empty domestic, international and even intercontinental flights. This is a cheaper alternative than standard charter flights, and at the same time much more comfortable than even business class on board large scheduled airliners.

Empty legs – private jet

All companies offering transport services face empty vehicle routes – from one-person taxi operations to the largest airline operators. Companies from the TSL sector try to deal with this issue by transporting various goods and optimizing their routes. In the case of regular courses, this is much easier than when the date and destination are decided by the client.
Empty legs in charter flights cannot be eliminated, but they can be approached responsibly – i.e. by allowing potential passengers to use an empty plane. Sometimes our plans are so flexible that we can adapt them to an opportunity to fly at a good price – it would be a shame not to take advantage of it!

Empty legs – Europe

Ferry flights are very popular in Europe. The relatively short distances between major cities make wasting time at the airport extremely irritating. Entrepreneurs, representatives of the world of politics, sports, show business and art regularly use private charters.
Follow our website and social media. Whenever there is an opportunity to use empty leg, we immediately inform about it on all channels. This is a socially and environmentally responsible action, and at the same time enabling customers to travel both in comfortable conditions and at lower price.

Empty legs – price

The cost of an empty leg is calculated individually each time because it depends on many factors. Of course, the route the machine will cover is important, but also the type of aircraft and the place where it will take off and land.
As a reliable company, we inform the customer about the price of a given empty leg in advance, after contacting our service office.

VIP handling – what is it and what does it include?

Traveling by scheduled aircraft is not a satisfactory method of transport for everyone. Queues at the airport, neighbors on board the plane, as well as possible problems with damaged or lost luggage can be annoying. For people who travel frequently, both for business and for private use, dedicated charters or even purchasing their own plane are better options. For VIP passengers for whom comfort is of the highest importance, we have prepared VIP handling services.

VIP passenger service

VIP passengers expect the highest level of service – and that is what we provide. We offer full ground service of the aircraft, meeting the needs of passengers during the flight, as well as providing all amenities after reaching the destination.
A staff of high-class professionals will ensure the comfort and safety of our clients both on the ground and in the air. Wherever you want to go, for whatever purpose and whenever you want to leave and return, we will organize everything with full commitment, professionally and hassle-free.

Aero VIP handling – what can you count on during your trip?

On board our aircraft, passengers can take advantage of numerous amenities. Staff who speak different languages will take care of their needs at all times, depending on their needs. In individual aircraft, we offer hot and cold catering, a well-equipped bar, a well-kept toilet, an exclusive conversation space, conference rooms and sleeping places.
Our priority is also safety. It is our responsibility to obtain take-off and landing permits, follow all flight procedures, secure terminal services, and plan the flight, among others in terms of weather.

Private VIP handling – transport organization

You do not have time to organize your trip yourself and at the same time you want to be sure that you will experience the highest level of service? We will be happy to arrange full service for your departure.
We will pick you up from your home or company, by car or helicopter. We will carry and pack your luggage. We will provide assistance during boarding. We will reserve a place in a hotel, a table in a restaurant, tickets for tourist attractions, sporting and musical events, conference space – whatever you wish. We will maintain complete discretion at every stage of the process, including a separate airport entrance.

VIP handling for companies and more – care for the aircraft

Do you have your own plane and you want it to be well-maintained and safe even during stopovers? We offer a hangar service in a space that meets the highest standards, from hangar size, through temperature, to constant monitoring.
Our professional ground staff will perform periodic technical inspections, clean the aircraft inside and out, and make sure that the aircraft is always ready to fly, also formally.

Types of passenger aircraft – light jet, midsize jet, ultra long range

The demand of people using business and private charter flights is very different. Some need transport for several people, others – for a dozen or so people. Some trips require large luggage, while others require a small suitcase. Sometimes it is more convenient for us to land at a large airport, other times – at a private landing field. Depending on who is traveling, where and for what purpose, different types of planes will work best. Check how they differ.

Types of aircraft – presentation

In terms of the number of passengers they can carry, as well as their maximum range, private use aircraft can be broadly divided into light jets, midsize jets and ultra long range jets. In each of these categories, even more detailed divisions are made (e.g. very light jet, super midsize jet).
Why is it so important? First of all, you are aware of what the plane you are traveling in is capable of. Of course, you don’t have to be an expert – just specify your needs and our consultants will recommend the machine that best meets your expectations.
Knowing about the types of private planes is more important if you are planning to buy your own. Due to various needs, making a choice may be difficult, so it is worth using our services. Not only will we take you where you need to go, when you need it, but we will also advise you when purchasing your own plane.

Light jet and very light jet – comparison

Light jest pilatus pc24
Pilatus PC-24 – Light jet

Light jet planes are small machines that can carry from 4 to 8 passengers. Depending on the model, they may have smaller or larger luggage space. Their range allows you to travel on domestic and international routes, but due to their relatively small tank, light jets are not suitable for intercontinental flights.
Light jets are fast, they can also take off from short runways, often even from unpaved ones, which significantly increases the possibilities of their use. They are especially suitable for frequent business flights, when speed and comfort are important.

Midsize jet and supre midsize jet – a business jet with numerous possibilities

Bombardier Learjet60XR
Bombardier Learjet60XR – Midsize jest

Midsize jets are larger than light jets. They usually take up to 9 passengers. They fly fast, thanks to which they efficiently cover international routes.
People running businesses that require frequent flights in larger groups often choose midsize jets. They are characterized by exceptional traveling comfort. The club seating arrangement allows for undisturbed conversation throughout the flight. You can also use catering and a bar, which makes the trip much more pleasant.

Ultra long range – comfortable business charter

Gulfstream G500 Ultra long range
Gulfstream G500 – Ultra long range

The largest aircraft for private use are the ultra long range. They take up to a dozen passengers and luggage. The flight time allows you to cover long distances – planes can stay in the air for up to 10 hours. Ultra long ranges are often designed with several zones allowing for both conversation and peaceful sleep. Hot and cold catering, a bar and even a conference space are available.
